About Gráinne
Gráinne Murphy, owner of Woodsgift Yoga Studio, has been teaching yoga since 2014 and practising since 2005. She is also an English teacher at a local secondary school, a wife to a farmer and a mother of two boys. Gráinne teaches hatha/vinyasa, restorative and prenatal yoga whicih is supportive, inclusive and trauma-informed, from her studio in the idyllic countryside of Woodsgift, Co. Kilkenny.
“Yoga began to change my life profoundly when I was pregnant on my first son and started to practise more regularly. Yoga has filled me with greater awareness and joy. It’s given me the tools I need to deal with and heal from the challenges I’ve faced. It’s given me strength and appreciation for my body, and empowered me through pregnancy and labour. Through yoga, meditation and pranayama [breathing practises] I have a much greater sense of peace in my heart and mind.”
Gráinne shares what she has gained from yoga with her students by creating a friendly and safe atmosphere in which they can experience it for themselves. She is forever a student of yoga, as well as a teacher, and she shares her ever-growing knowledge and insights with her students so that they can enjoy inquiring into their own body, mind and spirit with a sense of curiosity, compassion and fun.
Gráinne’s love of words heavily influences her teaching. She has a deep understanding of the power of words, to heal or to harm and so she speaks with thoughtfulness in her classes to skilfully weave in all of the many benefits of yoga and meditation, in a warm, safe and nurturing environment that appeals to her students, and has many students returning year after year.
